    We are the WCIAO, the Westchester Coalition of Italian American Organizations. We are an alliance of Italian American civic, educational and social groups based in the county of Westchester, NY, whose purpose is to preserve, promote, celebrate and share Italian and Italian American history, culture, and ideals, and further the study of the Italian language in our schools.

  • October Italian Heritage and Culture Month Calendar

    Our main project is to coordinate a calendar of Italian-themed events in and around Westchester during the month of October, the nationally designated month that celebrates Italian Heritage and Culture.

    We begin accepting events for our calendar in June.     If you have an event for our calendar, please email us at WestchesterCiao@gmail.com

    Prof. Carlo Sclafani

    The WCIAO was founded over 25 years ago by Professor Carlo Sclafani, former chair of the Modern Languages Department at Westchester Community College.   A professor of Italian language and culture with a lifelong dedication to promoting all things Italian, Professor Sclafani spearheads various activities to further the Coalition's goals and objectives.

Goals and Objectives

  • Unity Among Italian Groups

    Unify the Italian American Organizations of Westchester for the sake of promoting a better communication and rapport among them.

  • Italian Language and Culture

    Promote and foster the Italian language and culture in the community and in all Westchester County schools.

  • Support Italian-themed Activities

    Support and promote the cultural, social and artistic activities of the Italian American organizations.

  • Fight Discrimination

    Protect and defend Italian Americans against prejudice and discrimination.

    Eastchester, High School, 2 Stewart Place, Eastchester, NY

    Renown Italian and Italian-American singers including Alfio, Anna Valeva, Teo and Don Felice and more will perform for this NIAF-sponsored relief event.
